The Berserkers were a really unique group of elite Viking warriors who went to battle without your traditional armor. Rather they would wear animal pelts, typically from bears or wolves. It was really common for the Berserkers to wield an axe in each hand which allowed them to do a great deal of damage from close range mid and striking variety throwing. They may not have had the best protective capabilities based on their clothes and weapon selection, but you did not want to be across from them in battle because the damage and raw fury is something that is practically impossible to match.
